The Legendary P-38

Created by the legendary designer Kelly Johnson, when the P-38 Lightning hit the skies in 1941 Johnson had no way of knowing that seventy-six years later it would be so beloved! Serving in all theaters of WWII, it was in military service until 1965. Costing just over $95k a piece, over 10k were produced. Today just a handful of P-38s can be seen flying, this one calls Planes of Fame in Chino, CA home often being seen in flight. The one aspect of the Lightning you might find unique is that unlike other warbirds, the P-38 is incredibly quiet in flight. Maybe why is was called the fork-tailed devil!
