L-5 Stinson Liaison

The Stinson L-5 Sentinel served many roles, so many it was called by some as the “flying jeep.” It flew in the PTO and ETO serving as a flying platform for observing the battle below. They flew over the beaches of Iwo Jima and D Day. In fact on D Day +1 a L-5 was the first Allied plane to land in France on Utah Beach. The gorgeous restored L-5 displays the V Day stripes (black and white stripes) that L-5 would have had on that faithful day, June 7, 1944. Many fly today in part because they are fun to fly but also to honor all those pilots of WWII & Korea who flew these special eyes in the sky.
