Hells Hawks Jug

The Hell Hawks started flying from England and after D-Day moved their operations (aircraft, air fields and personal) with the front across Europe. They used the P-47 “Jug” as much as a ground support aircraft as bomber protection. The Jug provided them the ruggedness they need to take the punishment while dealing out the punishment required to carry on the mission. Most know of the Jug for its role in the ETO but they served in the MTO and PTO. The razorback is the early version of the P-47, later it received the bubble canopy.
